So, what have we been up to?

We made it through the long, frigid, snow-piled- high Iowa winter of 2007-2008. It prevented us from going to most of the Thursday night jams - every time we planned to go the roads were hazardous and we stayed home. We also had to cancel a gig at the Bluegrass Cafe because of the weather.

The band spent the winter learning some new material. Kathy has been practicing with us but right now she is on a mission trip to Africa. She will resume performing with us in late summer.

Lately we have made it to a few jams and it was great to see all our pickin' pals. We performed at Tama in May and hope to get back sometime this summer. Also played in Solon in early June.

Went to the a small church festival in North Liberty and saw Bob & Kristie Black's band, Banjoy, Mr. Baber's Neighbors, Shinbone Alley , Mike and Amy Finders, and The Great Bluegrass Herons perform. It was great!

Last night we went to the Iowa Arts Festival in Iowa City to hear Mike & Amy Finders, Sam Bush Band and Tim O'Brien. Outstanding music and a beautiful summer night. I couldn't believe how many other bluegrass friends we ran into!

We are really looking forward to upcoming Bluegrass Festivals in the area and meeting up with pickers we haven't seen since last summer. Can't wait!
