Well it was C O L D playing at the Ely Fall Fest, but we enjoyed it. Poor Dean (banjo) and Don (guitar) couldn't get their fingers to play all their fancy runs most of the time, so there was a lot of strumming. Me on bass? Well you don't have to move nearly as much or as fast! Mike (dobro) was pretty frozen too.
Thanks to Ely Parks and Rec for having us back for the 5th year. And thanks to John, Agnes and James for staying and giving us support while most people walked by either going to the chili supper, hay rack ride or back to their warm cars!
Don, Dean and I REALLY enjoyed the festival at Eden Valley even though we had some rain. The stage had to be moved inside so the audience was a bit crowded. They always have a HUGE bonfire in the campground and we jammed around that Friday night. Great potluck and chili as always on Saturday. That night the rain stopped and we were able to jam outside under our canopy with a lot of our good pickin' buddies. The whole festival is just like having a huge family.
We are winding down for our "hiatus" over the next couple months. Don and I will be playing at our church soup supper this weekend with the DeSmidts - friends coming in from Colorado (guitar and mandolin) and also on Sunday at church. They sent us a CD of 27 songs to learn (but we knew a lot of them already.) Should be a lot of fun.
HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A WONDERFUL HOLIDAY SEASON and see you again in 2013!
